Styles of the English saddles

With the term English saddles, there are actually many different styles that pertain to particular uses.

While the English saddle was originally designed to be used for fox hunting, it has been altered to the needs of other sports in years since.

All purpose: developed to allow for riding both on flat or fenced terrain.

Jumping saddle: often called a forward seat or close contact saddle is made for any terrain where jumping is a large part of the ride.

Dressage: primarily for flat land riding and whose characteristics are a longer base with deeper seat and taller pommel. It also may have a wider earing surface than other English saddles.
