Joint accounts: only for married people
As a general rule I do not believe that unmarried couples or others should attempt to secure joint unsecured student credit cards. The reasons for this should be obvious: if those two individuals are not married, and either of them fall into financial difficulties, it could be a real mess to straighten out such a credit card account — and the damage could in fact spread to the other, non-offending, person. In my humble opinion only married couples should have these types of credit card arrangements — no matter how much you may care for that other person, if you are not married and go into financial relationships with them, it could prove to be a disaster.
