There is a long history of diabetes in my family.  My father was a type II diabetic from the time he was in his early 50’s.  His son, my half-brother, was a type I diabetic from the time he was a child.  He went blind from diabetes and unfortunately died before his 40th birthday.  One thing he did was measure his blood constantly using a free blood glucose meter.

I’ve recently been concerned about my mother’s health as she ages and seems to have all kinds of nagging problems.  So I decided to get a free blood glucose meter for her so she could measure her blood sugar level every day.  It’s a great tool and most health insurance plans, including Medicare, will cover it.
