A car security alarm can be very sensitive to vibrations

A friend recently came over to my house for a BBQ and parked his car in my garage. When we were inside the house my dog was out sniffing around the vehicle. He must have accidentally knocked the vehicle because it setoff the car security alarm. I did not realize alarms could be so sensitive. My friend explained that the new alarm he has installed picks up vibrations and there does not have to be a break and entry to setoff the alarm. He stated that although he has experienced several false alarms, the added sensitivity is a good thing to have to ensure that your vehicle is protected from potential thieves.
