12/31 Some Surfing Beginner’s Tips
Here are some beginners surfing tips:
When learning to surf it’s advisable to have a buddy with you. If you can’t find a buddy who wants to surf with you (sometimes it can be hard), then at least surf in a place where there are a few other surfers.
Take a lesson. Taking a lesson is a great way to jump start the learning process. Surfing is difficult at first, and it helps to have someone guide you through the first wave you catch.
Rent a foam board. These foam boards will not hurt you if you fall on them or if they hit you. When you wipe out, there is a chance you will be hit by the board. Don’t waste money buying a foam board since as soon as you gain a bit of skill you’ll be wanting the real thing.
Wear sunscreen! Often beginners don’t realize how strong the sun is when you’re out in the water. Buy a non-greasy sunscreen and apply it at least a half hour before you go out in the surf. Even better, wear a long sleeve rash guard or wetsuit.
